Shlapjack is a clone of Sir James and will be much taller than Rita's other foals have been. He has a free shoulder and long strides with those long legs. His dam sire is the famous Lancet, Olympic Grand Prix dressage horse ridden by Emma Hindle for Great Britain. There is dressage performance blood on both sides of this amazing colt.
Birth report: Rita gave us quite a night. She was very slow in her labor. The foal's feet were facing the wrong way (up), but I knew they were front feet since I could feel a nose (PHEW!). Rita got up and down a lot, the foal finally turned himself, but now Rita HAD to have him standing up. He came out in a slippery bloody mess that we caught on the way down. Rita bled a little- then took hours to pass the placenta. All is fine now. This colt is a Mini-Me of Sir James. Tall, long legged and really his spitting image! One more foal to go for 2012!!!
