Winner of the Born In the USA Championship at Dressage at Devon for the highest score of the show received by an American bred horse!!!!!
Acapella was inspired by Glimmer and had a bay filly two hours later. She has a star, and is also a leggy one with a beautiful face and correct outline. We have named her Showgirl, Lola for short. Has already purposely jumped twice out of our breeding area, and she did it in perfect form!
Sire Scimitar is a handsome 17-hand son of the popular German sire Silvio I out of a States Premium Calypso II mare. He is a three-quarter brother to the Celle stallion Silvercup. This pedigree gives Scimitar his great rideability, substance and phenomenal jumping ability. Although bred to jump, Scimitar is a huge, powerful mover who garnered top honors at Dressage at Devon as a yearling, becoming Champion Colt and Reserve Champion Young Horse. He returned to Devon to win the Four-Year-Old and Older Stallions, also Showing Under Saddle class, and was second in the corresponding under saddle class. At his 100-Day Testing in Rancho Murieta in 2000, as one of only three three-year-olds in the field, he finished a highly respectable sixth, with excellent rideability scores from the panel of experts in both dressage and jumping under saddle. Scimitars first foal crop arrived in 2002.

Show Results
Showgirl went to Dressage at Devon in 2008 where she won her Three Year Old Fillies class with a whopping score of 87.2% and a trot that was really jaw dropping. As a result of this incredible score, Showgirl was the Grand Champion of the Born in the USA Award, given to the highest score of all domestically bred horses at the show. Needless to say, Marianna was thrilled!
10/2007
Showgirl placed 15th at Dressage at Devon in 2007. With that super trot of hers, I was quite surprised she didn't place higher. See the 2007 Dressage at Devon photos I took of her.
Owner Comments
Showgirl was named the top Hanoverian mare at her inspection and is now Elite Eligible.
Hi Mo,
I hope you're up to your elbows in baby horses!
I have interviewed and hired a trainer recommended by my vet to start both horses under saddle. LG will go first, leaving in about 2 weeks. I want to split them up since they are so dependent on each other. Lola popped the biggest, ugliest splint in January. I'm giving her more time for it to set up. Because of the splint, I will not be free-jumping her this year. I have decided to wait until next year to put her through the MPT.
On a sad note, I lost my Dad very unexpectedly right before Christmas. The holiday season was not very happy at my house. We all still expect him to walk around the corner at any moment... LG was "his" boy (Mom picked Lola) and I think about him everytime I work with LG.
Happy trails,
Marianne Butterworth
