It wasn't a comlete recovery after all....
Dhanielle developed neurologic problems that was probably due to neck trauma that happened when she was kicked, plus she had gotten lethargic and "not quite right". She was put down on Sept 8th. We will miss her sweet face and her friendly greetings.
This filly had a rough start, but she has grown up completely healed and is a real beauty! She is a friendly girl who is the first one to greet you in the pasture.Foaling report: Dhanielle was the second foal of the morning, right after Hhamilton was cleaned up. She is a beauty! Dhanielle was turned out with her mother in one of our large pastures and must have rolled under the fence. We found her alone, in a stupor in the wrong field with a swollen right eye and her tongue hanging out of one side of her mouth. She had no ability to nurse and obviously had a head injury. I called my friends at Mid Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, NJ, and once again, they were willing to come to my rescue. After one week in the hospital being fed by tube and treated for the broken eye orbit, and having occassional small seizuresd, I can happily report that she is home and nursing like a normal foal, and galloping and playing around her very patient mother. We will comntinue to moniter her and nurse her back to health. I'll keep you posted. She and mom look so happy to be home!!! Update- Dhanielle is fully recovered! She is turned out with her mother with the other young foals, and runs and plays like nothing ever happened! YEAH!
